Preaching and teaching among the Lisu

Amanda (Bryan) Wongnirattisai is a 2002 graduate of Ozark Christian College and a 2004 graduate of Missouri Southern State University.  She was called to the mission field in high school and was invited by a missionary to spend a summer at the Lisu Bible Institute (LBI) in Chiang Dao, Thailand.  Amanda grew to love the Lisu people and returned to LBI in 2006.

While teaching at LBI, Amanda met one of the LBI alumni, a village pastor named Yoha (John) Chwa, whose Thai name is Nipon Wongnirattisai.  Yoha and Amanda married on July 4, 2009, and served in Yoha’s village of Saingam.

Yoha and Amanda are serving in the Mae Hong Son province in northwest Thailand to reach the Lisu people, Yoha’s tribe, and plan to plant a church in the village of Doi Pilou, near Yoha’s home village of Saignam.  While the Lisu have been successfully evangelized in the countries of China and Myanmar (Burma), they have been less responsive in Thailand, where most of the Lisu worship spirits and follow witch doctors and shamans.  Yoha and Amanda are now called to plant churches among the unreached Lisu in Northern Thailand.
