Rejoicing with first missionary training group
Originally from Upstate New York, Wendy moved to Kentucky for the first time to complete her B.A. in Bible and Intercultural Studies at Kentucky Christian University. Upon graduation, she entered a 2-year cooperative program in which she taught English in China while completing her M.A. in Intercultural Studies/TESOL through Wheaton Graduate School. In January of 2004, Wendy moved back to Kentucky to teach Intercultural Studies at her alma mater as an assistant professor in the School of Bible and Ministry.
Wendy first heard about NMSI when two of her students at KCU completed summer internships and returned talking about their great experiences. She knew if an organization could conduct internships well, they were doing something great as a whole. When Wendy sensed God leading toward NMSI several years later, she was excited to accept the call to train and support missionaries around the world, including her sister Alys who is an affiliate with NMSI serving in an orphanage in Ukraine.
Wendy leads the Training and Development Group of NMSI’s Human Resource Department. She writes and facilitates training programs that are conducted at the CGO. She also works on a variety of projects, developing opportunities for missionaries to pursue ongoing educational and skill development.
