Celebrating the investment in the students’ lives

Lena Pira graduated from California State University Los Angeles with degrees in early childhood education and curriculum development.  In 2008, Lena felt God calling her to Uganda for full-time ministry and partnered with NMSI to aid her in walking in Christ’s footsteps.

Lena has been in Uganda since July 2009, working in partnership with Africa Renewal Ministries (ARM) and Africa Renewal Christian College (ARCC), formerly Gaba Bible Institute (GBI).  ARM is an indigenous NGO started in 1990 in order to train up a new generation of Christian leaders.  Since joining ARM, Lena has helped launch the diploma program in Child Development at ARCC, and is now currently working on a multi-level leadership curriculum to meet the needs of ARM’s 8,000+ sponsored children.  In addition to that, Lena is also responsible for coordinating the development of leadership materials into a variety of local languages, in order to better met the needs of the non-English speaking population of Uganda.

Lena loves art, Christian music, design, any type of encouragement, hanging out with friends, and watching God work in unexpected ways.  Her desire in all she does is to bring glory to God.
