Getting youth involved in God’s global work
Justin was saved by Jesus in 1999 and called into vocational ministry in 2001, the same year Karena trusted Jesus as her Savior. In 2003, God positioned them in a local church youth ministry in which they served for over 7 years. Justin’s B.A. is in Religious Studies and Karena’s B.A. is in American studies from University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC). Justin will finish Graduate classes next year from Huntington University with an M.A. in Youth Ministry Leadership.
God has led the Hannekens to work with youth in the nations and to advocate for the poor and marginalized around the world. Under the direction of NMSI, they are joining the youthHOPE team where Justin will serve as Director of Outreach. While teaching and preaching, he will be managing social networks for youthHOPE and also connecting youth pastors all over the U.S. with what God is doing through NMSI around the world. The Hannekens desire to minister cross-culturally and to see God’s Kingdom grow wherever God chooses to lead them.
