With a heart for youth in Latin America
Joy grew up in a mission-focused church and participated in her first short-term project in high school where she worked alongside veteran missionaries in Panama while leading a short-term project in 2005. She attended the University at Buffalo where she received her degree in International Studies, while continuing to develop skills that would help her during a 3-year term in David, Panama. After much prayer and searching, God led Joy to NMSI where she affiliated in Fall 2007.
During her years in Panama, Joy worked on building a campus ministry at the agriculture university, taught English, and helped facilitate a Bible study on campus. In the local church, she entered into the ministries to women and youth as well. Joy provided monthly Sunday School materials to the churches in the Ngobe indigenous region, and helped facilitate short-term projects.
Upon completing service in Panama, she decided to pursue ministry with IMPACTO Latino and moved to Pachuca, Mexico in October 2011. Joy‘s work with the IMPACTO Latino team in Pachuca focuses on youth and young adult ministry. She also teaches at the Friendship English Institute engaging students and young professionals.
