As God led Derek and Ashley into full-time missions ministry, they chose NMSI after participating in summer internships with the organization in 2004. They both had positive experiences, and knew that one day they would return to full-time mission work and NMSI was always at the top of the list!
God has led Derek and Ashley to care for our missionaries in the field. Ashley has a background working in business and hospitality and has a passion for making sure that our missionaries are cared for in every way. Ashley works alongside the Strategic Leadership Team as the Human Resources Director to protect, empower and sustain affiliates for long term service.
Derek has a background in Youth Ministry and works in NMSI’s Mobilization Department training Internship leaders, recruiting college students and encouraging NMSI affiliates. Derek is very passionate about getting the next generation mobilized to do what God is leading them to do. He is taking that passion to the next level by mobilizing college students to work with NMSI affiliates in hopes that one day, those college students would be passionate about missions for the rest of their lives.

Derek and Ashley Ried have been married since 2005. Derek and Ashley graduated from Lincoln Christian University, Derek with a degree in Youth Ministry and Ashley in Business Management. They are currently expecting their first child in May 2012.
