Dan grew up around New York City and attended college in upstate New York.  After a short career as a chemist, he decided to try something he’d always dreamed about: farming.  Through this, God gave him a passion for missions, starting with a visit to a church in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Mary’s first experience with NMSI was as a summer intern to Malawi, Africa in 2003.  After graduating from a Christian college with a degree in missions, she joined the home office staff at the Center for Global Outreach (CGO) as Director of Summer Internships.  Dan and Mary met in 2007 at NMSI’s CGO in Fort Myers, Florida, when Dan attended the COAT missionary training program.  They married in September of 2008.  Their lovely daughter Olivia was born 2010 in Zimbabwe.

Dan and Mary partner with church-based ministries following principles based on the concepts of Foundations for Farming (FfF).  FfF is a Christian initiative aimed at making disciples using the context of sustainable conservation agriculture as a launching point for life transformation.  Their focus is on curriculum development, leadership training and one-on-one mentoring.
