Katie DeFries
Katie is from southern Indiana, but is currently living in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a 2004 nursing graduate of the University of Southern Indiana and has worked as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for 6 years. She attended graduate school at Vanderbilt University and graduated in August 2008 as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
Katie began to feel an ever-growing calling towards missions around 2002, with a heart for infants and children in Africa, especially orphans and those suffering from the HIV/AIDS epidemic. She was introduced to NMSI in September 2005 during a short-term trip to Kenya, and fell in love with the people there. She affiliated with NMSI after attending COAT in Fall 2008, and is now raising support to join AfricaHope in Narok, Kenya. Katie is planning to share Christ’s love with the people there through community health outreach focusing on prenatal and infant healthcare needs and education.
