Rutherford & Tsahai Banda
Rutherford and Tsahai Banda are the Country Directors of AfricaHope Malawi. As such, they oversee the various programs and make sure that they are integrated and line up with the vision of AfricaHope. Rutherford has served as the National Coordinator for Teen Missions, and led numerous youth teams from the US to Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania.
Rutherford attended Teen Mission Bible School in Malawi and in Florida, graduating with a B.A. in Theology. He went on to teach seminary for four years, specializing in Church History and Evangelism. Rutherford is currently the pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lilongwe.
Tsahai grew up in Lilongwe, and attended Teen Missions Bible School where she received a degree in Bible. Afterwards, she served in Mozambique with Teen missions before returning and teaching at the Bible School. She and Rutherford married in 1999, and she now oversees the women’s ministry and prayer group of Cornerstone Church, as well as the orphan care program of AfricaHope Malawi.
The Bandas live in Area 25 of Lilongwe which provides easy-access to the villages. They have two children; Chris and Chikondi. They also take care of Hilda.
